I bought a ticket in Botswana for my daughter to travel from London to Johannesburg via Dubai. She was coming to Botswana just for a day to attend marriage.
After check in while waiting in Lounge at Heathrow airport, Her flight from London itself was delayed by more than an hour. Whereas her time in Dubai to change and board plane was only 1:30min. After realizing that she might miss her connecting flight, she requested ground officers of Emirates to allow her to go back as there will be no use for her to travel if she miss her connecting flight in Dubai. She was convinced by the ground officers that she will not miss her connecting flight as the flight from London to Dubai will cover up some time, secondly the connecting flight schedule show her arrival so they will wait for a few min if need arises.
My daughter reached Dubai and the gate was closed 30 min before the departure. She was not allowed to board her flight from Dubai to Joahannesburg. So she decided to go back to London from Dubai itself. Now, to compensate the delay of flight and missing the connecting flight, Emirates is prepared to compensate the loss by "Skyward" loyalty points of 10,000 but refusing the refund of flight ticket.
Please advise we we can sue the Emirates in Botswana where we purchased the tickets. PLEASE ASSIST US.
