Emirates Airlines - Airport security at London Stansted.

Update by user Jun 06, 2012

I realized I pout under the wrong section. Sorry about that, my first time here.

Original review posted by user Jun 06, 2012

My mother really had a bad experience and it was her first time in England. Not really her fault and she was trying not to miss her flight for Brno, Czech Republic. Instead she was mistreated.. http://www.stanstedairport.com/stansted-airport-guide/airport-security/security-faqs Sharp items Can I take a nail file on board? Yes, providing it is not longer than 6cm. Can I take nail scissors? Yes, providing the blades are not longer than 6cm (measured from the fulcrum). What about knitting needles? Knitting needles are allowed. Yet my mother's stuff were thrown out including box of bandages which I'm really baffled about! They took out piece by piece and my mother could cost her loss close to $100 CAD. And that was not all, since she missed her flight, she had to pay 186-187 pounds for a new ticket (for next day). She wanted her stuff back but she was told that they cannot be recovered. So my mother had been really upset so it was made into a bad day. Someone who was with her to the airport was notified about my mother still being at the airport and she went straight back to get my mother (as she was at the airport for about 8 hours). She spent about 20 pounds on food, Internet and telephone while being stuck at the airport. It was the person who came to her rescue so my mother would not at the airport overnight and brought her back to her house and then they went back to the airport next day. This time, everything was ok.. I believe that the airport security should have follow the rules of what's allowed IS ALLOWED and not throw out things especially box of bandages.

Emirates Airlines in Louisville, Kentucky - Emirates is a horrible airline!

I received old food on my flight and became very ill with food poisoning. In return I tried to get help from them and they responded with hate emails. I never received any kind of apology or any other attempt to say they were sorry. I feel like this company does not value their consumers. To top it off one of the flight attendants was very rude and they took an hour to even feed my entire row of travelers. I think that is why we became ill. I asked the ones around me after we reached the airport terminal several hours later how they felt and they were all ill too. I tried to contact BBB and the Emirates staff never followed-up with them nor myself. They are a selfish group of individuals and I will never in the future use their airlines again. I would rather pay extra money to fly on a better airline who respects their travelers. It is obvious they never cared about me at all.

your original comment:

I got food poisining in Emirates airlines flight EK91, from Dubai to Milan, on 25 May 2014. I'm not sure if the food was from Buissness lounge or the airlines.

I would appreciate if other people had the same experience on the light or on that day. I had a very bad experience. I spent 2 day in accident and emergency. I had a medial report about it.

When I complained about it to emirates airlines, they defended their position and blamed food I had before or after my flight, which I thought was ludicrous. They also lied about the incubation period of food poisining saying that it occur after 48 hours, which is not true.

Clearly they are defending their position. I did not expect this unprofessional reply from what they call them self as world class airlines

@Abd

That is shameful of them. They call themselves a good airline.

They am no longer giving Emirates nor Etihad my business. Both of these airlines are careless to consumers.

Due to food poisoning in emirates flight ek 817 from Dubai to Riyadh on 5th October 2012 iam down with fever, diahorrea, low bp and breathlessness. It is 2 days now and iam not able to join office.

This is the first time in my life I had low bp and had to get glucose drips.

I don't know about the situation of other passengers in my flight. I think emirates is known fr service, and now with this kind of service who wants to opt for emirates.

Hi,

That is really a shame how they treat their costumers. I think This is the most worst airline ever.

Even the local or domestic airlines do not treat their customers like you saying they did with you. I feel sorry for you.

Emirates Airlines in Dallas, Texas - Emirates air lines

EMIRATES AIR LINES Dear Sir, This is A.K.Jeelani Badshaw. I would like to bring to your kind notice that I and my family members totally of 6 members were supposed to travel to MUSCAT on 25th of April 2012 by EMIRATES AIRLINES Flight number E547, Booking reference GVAKMW and Ticket no1762142494881 to 885 and 1762142494887. I went to airport by 8.30 pm a little late, due to unavoidable delay because of Traffic Congestion as Metro Rail Works are going on. My flight was scheduled at 9.45 pm. Before that I checked in online and I got all the seats allotted. But unfortunately the crew in boarding counter refused to issue me and my family the boarding pass. She was telling that she could not issue the Boarding Pass, because time is over and we are six members. She also told if we are 1 or 2 she could have managed, but for 6 tickets she can't issue, In spite of standing and requesting her she did not oblige. After standing there and requesting for 27 minutes finally a phone number was written on Emirates online check-in receipt(copy enclosed) to contact for further enquiry. To my surprise the persons who were standing there by my side were allotted seats one by one and I was watching all these. Because of this I suffered lot of mental tension and I had one important function there on 27th April which I have missed now. This is a total LOSS to me. All the food stuff which I carried was also got spoiled and it is a great Loss to me. I have to put one week extra leave in my present company at loss of pay since I have to reschedule my Trip a week later because no Tickets are available before that. Conveyance charges from to and fro from my residence are also another loss to me. For rescheduling the tickets I have to spent lot of money. For all these I have to spend more than 25,000. Moreover, I suffered lot of physical and mental tension. Being a heart patient I suffered a lot. She could have considered my request and could have helped me as Senior Citizen. I request the concern authorities to take necessary action and do the needful for me and compensate my losses. Being a multinational Air craft Company, I hope my request will be considered at an earliest.

Don't need to read any further "I arrived a little late"... end of story.

I would rather be at the airport 3 hours before my flight, than running through the airport begging to be allowed to board.

Leave earlier or don't travel!

I wish we could do a class action lawsuit on this company. I became very ill on their airline last year.

I would be willing to go together in a lawsuit with others who are concerned as well. This is terrible what they did to you.

Emirates Airlines in Irvine, California - Emirates Airline $75 penalty

I am forced to change my ticket due to the on going issues in Syria specially Homs. I called the airline to make a change and I was told that things are OK in Syria and no need to change my ticket but if I chose to do so I must pay $75 penalty. People are getting killed by the government on daily basis and Emirates thinks that the situation is not that bad yet. I called the airline twice, first they told me to wait until 2 days before my flight may be the situation will worsen. What are they waiting for the Syrian airforce to start bombing the cities.

Emirates Airlines in Dallas, Texas - Stolen Items and Damaged Luggage - No joy

Hi, I've recently travelled from Dublin Ireland to Hyderabad India via Dubai. My 2 suitcases were checked in at Dublin and to be collected in Hyderabad, India. Both suitcases had number locks. Upon reaching my country and after collecting luggage, I noticed that one of suitcase's number lock was missing, and the loops through which the lock is put-in (through the zippers) were broken. This suitcases consists of my mother's jewellery which is of 60 grams. I immediately went to the local authorities (police near the airport) and filed and FIR. I also contacted Emirates and spoke to the Director stating the same. To my surprise, the second suitcase had the number lock on it, but the number to unlock it changed!!! Now tell me how on earth that's possible unless it was intentionally broken into? The director of Emirates India was in constant touch with me and got the zipper fixed and lock repaired (for free obviously) but there was no news about the jewellery. The case was then transferred to Dubai as I'd come transiting from this city. I was finally informed by some lady they cannot reimburse me of the stolen jewelry because of some Montreal Act blah blah blah (a way to escape). They offered no compensation either. I went to India for a short trip most of which was pilgrimage. On my journey to India, I'd purchased a watch on-flight and triple-checked with the staff whether I could return it if the person I was buying it for wasn't not happy with it. She guaranteed me that she would, however on my way back to Dublin, the story was completely different. I was speaking with 5 different staff members who initially told me that they would reimburse. One said they can only reimburse 500 dirhams as the watch was 580 dirhams and that I could collect the balance at customer affairs in Dubai. Another staff member came with the credit-card machine but told me that the machine wasn't working and that she would be back. This time another member came and told me how much I would be getting back in Euros and went away. Now another lady came and told me that they can only refund if there was something wrong with the product. I was gobsmacked with what she said as I heard so many different versions of the issue. I told her that when I purchased the watch, the lady who sold me guaranteed full refund if in original packing and what the new lady is saying is absolutely ridiculous. She told me that they cannot do anything. I was extremely angry and agitated as I'm a cardiac patient and my blood pressure shot through the roof in the plane. I was nearly making a racket. I asked this lady her name so that I have all the names of the staff I spoke to and that I would liaise with Customer Affairs of Emirates. She denied giving her name and threatened me that if I wrote about her, she would write about me too!!!!! I said to her that I would be glad if she wrote about me as all the odds are against them. Finally some decent staff lady came and promised that she would get the refund for me and that she herself would personally email customer affairs of Emirates. I came back to Dublin on the 29th and only today I received an email from Emirates about the refund and that I need to ship the item to them. They said nothing about the lost jewellery and compensating me for all the hassle they'd caused that ruined my trip running around the police, emailing Emirates India etc. I feel that technically I am eligible for some compensation for the extreme trouble/hassle Emirates put me through and to face such arrogant on-flight staff. Please suggest of any ideas that come across your mind as I cannot replace my mother's jewelry as it's more of a sentimental value rather than of monetary. I have decided never ever I would travel by Emirates. To support my case, my aunt's distant relative who're travelling from either to USA from India or vice-versa and had the exact situation where their locks were broken. Luckily in their case, they did not lose anything. You might ask why I put the jewellery in the check-in baggage rather than in hand-baggage. The reason is this, I've never travelled by Emirates before that too never via Dubai but I've heard that people buy gold there and to avoid any hassle with customs about the already existing jewellery, I put it in the check-in baggage as I was pretty sure it would be safe that too with the locks. But just learnt the hard and burning lesson of not doing so and not to travel by Emirates again. I hope that this gives people some insight what they could face when travelling by Emirates. The second part of the story is, I purchased travel insurance through my local Health Insurance company called VHI (Ireland) and when I presented the case to them along with the Emirates complaint number and the Police FIR, they turned back and told me that they can only look into issues of items stolen/lost belong to me but not entrusted to me!!! You see, there are so so many loopholes in the system. I fought with them and said that technically whatever belongs to my parents is MINE! But they denied it. So I was royally cheated by both Emirates and VHI and beware when purchasing travel Insurance from VHI.. Again and help/pointers to support my case would be very helpful. Thank you for listening. Best Regards, Bharath

Am a very frequent traveller with Emirates, they constantly send you fake notices of how many miles you need to reach the next tier level. Despite those miles being achieved they refuse to put you on the higher tier level.

As usual, emails get response never by the same person, always by different people so you need to explain your whole story many times, they never allow you to talk to someone senior.

Obviously they are unable to keep to their word.

Disgusted with the level of service and treatment received.

As salaamu alaykum

Dear Brother or Sister in Islam

I, Moulana Abdool Rahman would like to place on record my complaint of poor, disgusting service that my family and friend received at Madina Airport by your staff member Aarif. We got to the check in counter at Madina Airport on the 28th Of March for Flight EK 808 bound for Dubai and then to South Africa.

Your staff member known to us as Aarif, who refused to divulge his details which resulted in me going to other staff to try and find out

his details who were also very reluctant to divulge it to me. With alot of difficulty I did edventually get his name. I also wanted his surname which they refused to surrender.

The constant question was as to why I wanted his deatils. I realised all the staff in Madina were aware of this persons character

otherwise they would have given me the relevant information without any difficulty or hesitation.

My Friend also a Moulana from Pakistan was in front of me waiting to be attended to by your Aarif at the Madina check in counter. Aarif

told Moulana to put his bags onto the scale which included his hand luggage. He was suddenly over weight. Aarif began demanding that moulana pay for the over weight. Moulana was trying to explain to him that his hand

luggage was included.

Aarif refused to listen. All he was concerned with was the money and not reason. Moulana's boarding pass was printed and ready to be handed to him which Aarif refused to do.Aarif tore the boarding pass in pieces in our presence without any fear of any possible disciplinary action being taken against him. I was very upset and was going to reprimand him. My wife stopped me as she didn't want

us to get into an argument in a foreign country.

Had he been in my country namely South Africa he would be dealt with very severely. His job is guaranteed due to people like my friend, family and I who use your airline. To add insult to injury, Moulana was thrown out of the *** and made to go to the back.

WE WILL NEVER WANT TO TAKE YOUR AIRLINE IF THIS IS THE LEVEL OF TREATMENT WE RECEIVE BY YOUR STAFF.

Moulana did get onto the flight after a lengthly delay. My family and I were seated on seats 34 D, E, F and Moulana on 34 B.

Flight EK 775 was also delayed for over an hour at Dubai Airport due to a flimsy reason that the plane needed to be cleaned. Your pilot drove the plane like a maniac which caused my daughter to become sick

resulting in her bringing up on the plane.

This was due to the sheer speed which resulted in the plane being bounced about as the weather wasn't too good at certain parts of the flight.

I have never had this problem with South African Airways, One Time, Mango, Egypt neither has my family experienced this kind of madness with Saudi Airlines.

I hope and pray that you will take my complaint seriuosly as I will be awaiting your urgent response. If I don't then I will ensure maximum exposure of these incidents in all major newspapers, blackberry (BBM) and other media.

Shukran

Moulana Abdool Rahman

This is a copy of the email I sent to their cosumer complaints department. It is extremely sad to see and learn that we are not the only ones' that have suffered at the hands of "THUGS" on an international flight. I hope and pray that other people will be made aware of these problems that we have experienced.
